I finally know more about the chinese heritage in Jakarta! As an Indonesian with chinese ancestors, i‘ve always wanted to explore the Chinatown in Jakarta. Although I used to go there almost every weekend with my family in my childhood, i never have a chance to really knew it nor explore it thoroughly. So as i learned that Jakarta Walking Tour offer a walking tour in Chinatown, i took the chance immediately. The guide (Vera) is very nice, helpful and really fun to be around!Thank you so much Jakarta Walking Tour! Hope to join other tours of yours.

An absolute pleasure

The tour of Glodok I took with Vera was an absolute pleasure! She was a lovely guide and I had a lot of fun riding the public bus transportation, sampling various snacks in the Glodok street, visiting temples, and so much more. The tour allowed me to visit a part of Jakarta I might have skipped over had I been by myself, and it was a delight to

We had 24 hours in Jakarta and rather than attempting to navigate the city ourselves, we booked a five hour walking tour with Vera. She escorted us on the public bus to the Old City where we visited a puppet museum and the main square. We then had a very interesting walk through the back streets of Chinatown where we sat in the middle of the street market eating pork noodles and drinking coconut water. Vera took us to some prominent Chinese temple then back on the bus to show us the Monas monument before leaving us in the park to look around at our own pace.

Overall we had a very pleasant day with Vera. She was a friendly and informative host and it really helped having her around to escort us through Jakarta, especially the back streets where most tourists wouldn’t normally go.

We had a wonderful day with Vera from Jakarta Walking Tour! She is so nice and knowledgable, it was great chatting with her while she showed us around Jakarta. She tailored a plan including all our wishes for the day and provided us with rain coats, drinks and snacks. We are very thankful for that great experience and will recommend taking a tour with Vera to all of our friends! 🙂

Vera took Neil and myself on a fabulous day tour of Jakarta. She opened our senses to the real flavours and colours of the city allowing us to better understand its character, habits and customs. We visited many interesting places including the colonial area and Chinatown. We tried a variety of delicious street foods and drinks (Potong, the iced coconut lolly, being our favourite closely followed by rujak: fresh fruit with a chilli and cane sugar sauce). We also took an amazing reflexology massage that put our feet back on track after a day walking 🙂
Vera is a competent, interesting and entertaining guide and we recommend her to anyone wishing to see the authentic face of Jakarta. We look forward to our next tour with her. -Francesca and Neil
